What you need to know about your Skin Type

If your pillow case or bed covers have a lot of oil in some areas then you have oily skin, if they absorb little or no oil at all then you have dry skin and if you have combination skin, it shows only a small amount of oil around your T-zone, but if you are normal skin, you see minimal oil in the areas of your face.

Normal skin is the least problematic type because it looks clear, smooth and well supplied with blood. It has a smooth texture, fine pores, no blemishes and no sensitivity to breakouts. Oily skin reacts differently to skin products than dry or sensitive skin types.

However, normal skin can experience slight fluctuations in oiliness, dryness and occasional eruptions when exposed to environmental stresses such as UV rays and pollution. Your face can be oily in summer and shiny in winter if your skin is oily.

You can make minor adjustments to your skincare regime to combat intermittent dryness and greasiness, as well as targeting some dark spots or blemishes. If you have combination skin, your cheeks, temples and eye areas can be dull and dry while other parts of your face can be oily, especially the T-zone, the central part of the face that includes the forehead, nose and chin. Check out these useful skincare tips and product recommendations to help you design a bespoke skincare routine based on your combination skin needs.

Skin care for oily skin should contain ingredients that help control excess oil production. Whether it’s sunscreen or make-up, buy oil-free products to avoid clogged pores. When your skin dries out, you can swap out your PM moisturiser for a nourishing face oil such as Shiva Rose Face Oil 120 Mun Brightening Youth Serum 38, which is 100% organic and rich in moisturising natural oils.

It is important to note that sensitive skin types can be caused by allergies or diseases such as rosacea and people with sensitive skin should therefore consult with a dermatologist to learn more about skin care. If you have reactive skin, this may be a sign of an underlying condition such as eczema or rosacea. Allergies can be severe and cause breathing difficulties and nausea.

Make an appointment with a dermatologist who will help you with a skincare routine that is right for your skin. If you are unsure how to care for your skin, talk with your dermatologist about the products you use and how they affect your skin.

Building a daily skincare routine, regardless of skin type, will help maintain overall skin health and improve specific problems such as acne, scars and dark spots. Your daily cleansers and moisturizers should be SPF, but your skin can also benefit from purifying facial masks such as Garnier's Skinactive purifying charcoal sheet mask two to three times per week. Dry skin can benefit more from moisturizers such as Missha Super Aqua Cell Renewing Snail Cream.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends mild cleansers and a medium moisturizer for combination skin. Sensitive skin can become inflamed and irritated, so it is important to choose the right skin care as many cleansing products and rehydrating creams contain ingredients that may cause bad reactions. If your skin is sensitive, it is helpful to find out what you can do to avoid things that cause your skin to react.

People with oily skin need to be protected from sunlight, and Neutrogena can help you with its ultra-thin sunscreen. L'oreal Paris Micellar Cleansing Water is a complete cleaner for all skin types, rinse with a face cleanser and used to clean the surface of the skin. It works by removing dirt, oil and impurities from the surface and dead skin.

If you don't drink enough water during the day, your skin dries out and starts to get flaky. Dry skin cleansing is not easy and due to the lack of essential oils on the face, it is recommended that people with dry skin use lukewarm water instead of hot water. When your skin starts to dry out, you can switch to a cleaning lotion such as Osea Ocean Cleansing Milk.

Sunscreen is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. If you use it every time you go outside you reduce your risk of sun damage which can worsen hyperpigmentation and cause skin cancer.

Dry skin tends to be more sensitive to these products so it is important to choose a gentle cleanser such as Micellar Water to reduce the risk of irritation. It is also important to use moisturizing creams for dry, dull skin both in the morning and evening to keep it fresh and to give it the moisture it needs.

This type of skin is both oily and dry and has a balanced production of sebum. If the skin on the cheeks is balanced well and not too oily or dry you will have an oily T-zone where your skin is classified as normal or combination skin. This is a healthy skin type with moisture and even texture and no obvious problem areas - in other words - you hit the skin care jackpot.

A combination skin type means that your skin is not just one type, but can be dry in some areas and oily in others. Combination skin care is different because you use different products for different areas of the skin.
